They're here!!!

Small keeper size striped bass have shown in Vineyard waters. Squid are in our island harbors. Most reports have been from the south shore of the Vineyard, but schoolie size bass have been in Sengekentacket Pond as well.

The fishing is only going to get better. We anticipate our first run of bluefish very soon and with sunny skies on the forecast it is only a matter of days before we are in full swing here on the Vineyard.

Spring . . . C'mon I know you can do it!

Keep checking in to see when the first stripers arrive in Vineyard waters. It won't be long now and we'll be back on the beaches doing what we love . . .

Happy St. Patrick's Day!!

St. Patty's day hasn't been as exciting for me the past few years, at least not like they were in college.  This is a good thing.  But I always look forward to this time of year because I now really start anticipating the upcoming season.

So, you should have a few things on your "To-Do" list.  One, get your reels in for a clean and service if you haven't already.  You'll most likely need to line as well, but if you've been using braid you might be okay. Depending on how much use its gotten, you should be able to get 2-3 seasons out of it. The other thing you should be doing is checking the hooks on your plugs.  Rusty, dull hooks will only cause you heartache later on.  VMC 4x or Owner Stingers 6x are the way to go.  Lastly, check your waders for leaks and see if they can be easily repaired with some Aquaseal.  Nothing is more of a bummer and annoyance than having your boots fill up with water.

Have a great spring and hope to see you on the beach!

It is finally that time of year where all the kids go back to school and the bonito and false albacore arrive.  Albie fishing is in full swing and the Martha's Vineyard Striped Bass and Bluefish Derby is just under 2 weeks away.

The fishing on Chappaquiddick has been fantastic and has been one of my best bluefishing seasons yet.  Not to mention the shark fishing from the beach has been awesome as well!  Striped bass fishing has been respectable for this time of year and some locals have managed to catch some huge bass as well.

It has been a great season here at Livinit Fishing Guide Service and definitely one of the better fishing seasons.  Hopefully this good fishing will carry into the MV Derby and the fall migration will not disappoint.  Head to Dick's Bait and Tackle or any of the Derby registration outlets and sign up for the Derby today.
