That's right . . . the bass and blues are back and people are catching all around the island. Reports have come in of bass over 30 pounds and bluefish blitzes off Chappaquiddick. It is only getting better. What are you waiting for??? Make a reservation or just come over for the day and hook into some spring time fun. Spring and early summer is the time for the surfcaster. Once July gets here and the water temps get too high, the bass and blues sound for deeper, cooler water and the surfcaster has to work. It's like fishing in a barrel.
Head for Lobsterville beach, Long Point, Chappaquiddick, and all points along the north shore. Arm yourself with either fresh caught squid from Edgartown or Menemsha harbors, or my personal preference, PLUGS! Fill your plug bag with any squid imitation, from bucktails to pencil poppers, Danny plugs, Storm/Tsunami shads, Bombers/Rebels, Rapala X-Raps, RonZ and of course metal (Kastmasters, Hopkins, Krocodiles).
Bluefishing blitzes are occuring off Wasque, on Chappaquiddick and West Chop. Again, metals and surface lures like Surface Tensions, pencil poppers, and ballistic missiles are top choices. Lobsterville and Menemsha have been producing large numbers of fish, mostly light tackle.
Good luck and save some fish for me.
