The bluefishing off Chappaquiddick is absolutely ridiculous. Blitzing bluefish, from 4 to 10 pounds are crashing the rips and points along Chappy. Kastmasters and big bucktails are the lure of choice. We have been able to tempt some of them to the surface with pencil poppers and ballistic missiles, but the blues have been cruising along the bottom.
Striped bass fishing has been sporadic. Surfcasters have been having banner nights, only to be skunked the next. We did weigh in a 42-pounder at Dick's Bait and Tackle for a boat fisherman today, caught off the North Shore, most likely Split Rock (Makoniky Head). Most of my bass have come on RonZ and weighted Hogy's. I have hooked a few with metal lip swimmers and Rapala's X-Rap. Some of the bigger bass have been caught on fresh caught squid, soaking on the bottom.
